Bob was born on December 2, 1936, in Clay County, Indiana, the son of Joseph and Nellie (Myers) Pierce. He graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1955. Following high school, he worked for Twiggs for a short time. He then worked at the Newport Ammunition Depot for several years before working as a sheet metal worker with Local 20 until retiring in 1997...
