A man was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital after being involved in a motorcycle wreck caused by loose gravel on a country road Saturday evening.
Shortly after 10 p.m., Clay County Sheriff's Deputies Brison Swearingen and Josh Clarke were dispatched to an accident scene near the intersection of C.R. 600 N. and Cory/Staunton Rd.
According to the accident report, three motorcyclists were traveling south at a slow speed in a single file line through the curves on Cory/Staunton Rd. when a car approached. John P. Hunteman, 27, apparently in the lead position, hit loose gravel when he accelerated.
Hunteman lost control of the motorcycle, which tipped over, left the roadway and slid down a path until it came to rest after striking a tree.
Dazed at the scene, Hunteman, who suffered possible internal injuries and head trauma, was transported by Air-Evac to Wishard Hospital for treatment.
No other injuries were reported during the accident.
