Head-on collision results in injury

Officials have released few details about a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a semi that took place near 3145 W. U.S. 40 Wednesday morning due to the ongoing investigation in to the accident.
A second head-on collision within 24 hours brought out emergency response personnel to the west side of Brazil Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 10 a.m., members of the Clay County Sheriff's Department, Clay County Search and Rescue, Posey Volunteer Fire Department and Trans-Care responded to the scene of a pickup truck and semi accident in front of Vision Quest Landscaping and Gardening, 3145 W. U.S. 40.

According to officials at the scene, a witness who was following the semi said the driver of a pickup truck lost control of their vehicle while traveling in the eastbound lane, crossed the median before striking a westbound delivery truck from Dever Distributing in the front passenger side.

The pickup truck continued on, rolling over and stopping in a corn field upside down.

Stopping in a ditch next to the cornfield, the driver of the semi was unable to brake in time to avoid a collision.

The pickup driver was transported to St. Vincent Clay Hospital, treated and later released, while the two passengers in the semi were not injured during the accident.

Officials are not releasing further details about the accident due to an ongoing investigation, but have estimated damages to the semi and its cargo to be near $25,000.

The witness' vehicle was pelted by flying gravel and debris from the accident, but did not sustain major damage.
