Brazil Buzz

Thursday, July 12, 2007

On the morning of July 6,we received an early wake-up call. Our daughter, Starla McHugh called from her home in Arizona to inform us that our eldest grandson, Michael Risk, of Brownsburg was involved in a single vehicle accident near Jamestown on I-74, earlier that morning, at 6:35 a.m.

Her son was in route to his workplace (Sherwin Williams) in Crawfordsville. He was traveling in the westbound passing lane of I-74, when; he left the roadway for unknown reasons and entered the median. Michael's vehicle traveled 200 feet before knocking over a fence and traveled 20 feet down the hill.

The vehicle hit the water filled creek below and then rolled over onto the driver's side.

The tearful mother said that Mike called 911, but he didn't know the location of the wreck site.

Shortly after, an eye- witness to the accident, along with deputies of the Boone County Sheriff's office, Witham Memorial Hospital medics and firefighters from the Jamestown Fire Department arrived at the scene to investigate and assist. They discovered Michael's 2004 GMC Envoy lying in a creek that runs perpendicular with the intestate's median. Michael had already worked his body out of the passenger door of his vehicle and was attempting to climb up the steep hill to safety.

The accident victim was transported to Hendricks Regional Health in Danville, where he was treated and released later that morning. He sustained a badly bruised knee and aches and pains. Michael proved-SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES! We are thankful!

The totally wrecked and water soaked vehicle is replaceable-Michael is not!

It is believed by many that 7/7/07 was the luckiest day of the century.

Al Gore, the down to earth man with an honest to goodness good plan and a host of stars held the "Live Earth" concert. It took place on Saturday. The impressive global event was brought about to further our awareness and gain support toward his cause. He addressed the serious problems that we face in regard to the health of our environment and more; Al gave each of us a wake-up call. His goal is to reach as many human inhabitants of this planet, called EARTH, as possible. Its time to do our homework!

We can not depend on luck alone or the countless other beating hearts that dwell in this world that God created, to harness global warming. We must start breathing a better, sweeter breath of fresh air into our space now; the future is as close as tomorrow.

Seven is and auspicious number, favorable to many, including couples that moved their romance to a new level, on July 7,2007. Many knots were tied and hopes were high that the timing would result in happiness and prosperity beyond promises. I heard that a popular wedding chapel in Vegas was the site of 500 marriages on Saturday. Imagine that!

Well, while all of the people I mentioned, thus far, looked for lots of love and luck in all the right places; my day wore me out, both physically and mentally.

Early on, before I had time to get my thinking cap on straight, I lost Paul's prized ring, the one that he don't leave home without. He planned to wear it to work. That was followed by an all day search, with focus, in particular, in route from my jewelry box to the bathroom, as I recall. That should have been easy since no clutter interfered with the path.

I had forgotten that I shook a thick shag rug outside during a routine tidy-up of the bathroom. Last night while checking the condition of the flowers hanging on the back porch, my eye caught site of the silver ring, near where I gave the rug its breath of not-so-fresh air.

Even the laundry suffered at my hand. I used the wrong kind of bleach on a white shirt, in hopes of being lucky enough to remove a stubborn spot of ink left by a leaky pen. Wow-that developed into an "I'M SORRY." I say that a lot.

The straw that broke the camel's back occurred at dinnertime, when, with my hands firmly planted on the handles of a piping hot kettle of good eats; I fed the left- over beans to my freshly swapped kitchen flooring.

After I mopped up the mess, we settled for a taste or two of plan B. Then I grabbed a scratch-off ticket from beneath my plate and borrowed a coin from the provider. The money that I had already spent, in my head, wasn't there. July 7,2007 went down in my history as, just another day.
