Violet K. Wells Nolte, 85, Brazil, died at 6 a.m., July 11, 2007, in her daughter's home.

Born March 28, 1922, in Brazil, she was the daughter of Joseph W. Grogan and Mary (Young) Grogan.

She graduated in 1940 from Brazil High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She worked as a press operator for Mallory Manufacturing, retiring in 1985.

Violet enjoyed her dog Boomer, working in her flowers and spending time at home.

She is survived by her daughter Brenda K. Ziels and husband William, Sandra Lea Jones and friend Rob Frazier, Sabena K. Corbin and husband Robert; sons Lester A. Nolte Jr. and friend Kim Faulk, Arthur Wells Jr., all of Brazil; six grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; brother William E. Grogan, Terre Haute; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Louis Barr; first husband Arthur Wells Sr., second husband Lester A. Nolte, sister-in-law Carmen Grogan, sister Lucille Burk, and daughter-in-law Beverly Wells.

Services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday at French Funeral Home with Pastors Jim Conger and Mark Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday and again Saturday prior to services.

Pallbearers will be Robert Corbin, William Ziels, Rob Frazier, Chad Nolte, Joshua Corbin and Dylan Nolte.

If friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Hospice of the Wabash Valley or to the American Cancer Society.
