SMWC golf scramble

Friday, July 20, 2007

One of the best golf events in the area is set for Sept. 8 when the Terre Haute Alumnae Club of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College hosts the eighth annual SMWC Scholarship Scramble at Geneva Hills Golf Club in Clinton.

Homemade Italian beef will highlight the lunch menu for the event open to men and women golfers. The entry fee of $60 per person includes lunch, green fees and cart and every golfer is guaranteed a prize.

Donated gifts in past years have included items from the Indianapolis Speedway, hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates and theater tickets.

Registration and lunch will begin at 11 a.m. A shotgun start is scheduled for noon. Prizes will be awarded to the first-place teams for men's, women's and mixed foursomes. Other contests include longest drive, closest-to-the-pin and longest holed putt. Trophies for the event this year are sponsored by First Financial Bank.

Proceeds from the benefit provide scholarship to support Wabash Valley women pursuing degrees at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.

Registrations may be sent to Mary Add Baker, 2710 Wilson Dr., Terre Haute, 47803. To receive a registration form or for more information, call 812-235-0460 or 812-466-4682.

The deadline to enter the tournament is Sept. 2.
