Friday, July 20, 2007

A scholarship fund has been established in honor of Carroll Jack Stark.

Stark was a teacher and vocational director for Clay Community Schools for several years.

He was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is fighting a courageous battle.

Harold House is chairing the scholarship committee. He is among Stark's former students. House is a nationally renowned teacher in the area of servere emotional exceptionalities.

"(Stark) followed his students long after they graduated," House said. "He accompanied me to the awards ceremony when I was named among the 10 Outstanding Young Americans by President Ronald Reagan and the United States Jaycees during the time that I served as mayor of a tiny village near Cincinnati."

Any recent high school graduate from the Wabash Valley who completed marketing courses and was a member of DECA, is eligible for consideration. The scholarship will provide $500 for the recipient.
