Hospital board selects Purcell as Chairman

St. Vincent Clay Hospital recently announced local resident and businessman William Purcell, was named Chairman of the St. Vincent Clay Hospital Board of Directors.

Purcell currently serves as Vice President of Business and Economic Development for First Financial Bank and Executive Director of the Vigo Parke Vermillion Medical Society.

Prior to this appointment, Purcell served as a member of the St. Vincent Clay Board of Directors for four years. As chairman of the 10-member board, Purcell will lead and oversee the Board of Directors, in conjunction with the hospital administrator, to develop the strategic plan, objectives and priorities of the hospital.

Purcell has been heavily involved in the Brazil community since moving here in 1967.

"I would like to congratulate Bill on his appointment," Dr. Worthe S. Holt Jr., MMM, FAAFP, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Office for St. Vincent Health said. "The level of dedication demonstrated by Bill and all of the community members who serve on the board aids in furthering the St. Vincent mission of caring for the healthcare needs of all Hoosiers. We recognize this is vitally important work and we appreciate their efforts."

Other board members include Loraine Brown, Indianapolis, Jeffrey A. Boylll, Center Point, Kirk A. Freeman, Brazil, Lynn Hostetler, Brazil, Dr. Paul N. Houston, Brazil, Katherine Humphreys, Indianapolis, Jerry Laue, Brazil, Lynsey B. Lunsford, Brazil, and Renee Stewart, Brazil.

Purcell and his wife Brenda live in Center Point. They have a son, Matthew.

St. Vincent Clay Hospital has served Clay County residents since 1928.
