Phyllis June McAllister, 82, Brazil, formerly of Celine, Tenn., died in her home at 9:45 p.m., July 24, 2007.
Born Oct. 4, 1924, in Westfield, Penn., she was the daughter of Floyd Nickerson and Louisa Nunn Nickerson.
She worked for many years for Days Inn and Denny's restaurants, serving as hostess for many of their locations. She retired in 1992.
She relocated from Tennessee to the Brazil area to be close to her family. While in Celina, she was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include son Dr. Ron Leach and Shelia Kirkman, Brazil; step-children Paula Hill and husband Tony, Paulette Parker and husband Michael, Benny McAllister and wife Debbie, Paul Jones and wife Amanda, Kristen Leach and John Zuel, Ian Leach, Brittany Leach, Rick Barnett and wife Lori, Phaedra Dean and husband Darren, Kyna Marshall and husband Walter, Charles Hill, Robbie Hill, Abby Hill, Brandy McAllister, Tim McAllister, Alex Parker, Matthew Parker, Taylor Parker, Paul McAllister Jr., and Holly McAllister; great-grandchildren Cade Cooper, Hayley Tester, Alekko Jones, Aydan Jones, Tony Barnett, Trent Barnett, Sara Barnett, Cody Brown, Dylan Dean, Tyler Brown, Peyton Brown, Nathan Marshall and Grace Isabella Rose Marshall; brother Edward "Nick" Nickerson; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband James McAllister, daughter Deborah Sue Harper, brother Eugene Nickerson, sister Margarite Nickerson, and step-son Billy McAllister.
Services will take place at 8 p.m. Friday at French Funeral Home with Brother Allen Dowell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Garden in Savannah, Ga.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at French Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley of the Union Hospital Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
