CLINTON -- The Northview Knights put a successful end to a long road expedition on Monday night with a 60-44 victory over South Vermillion.
Northview has played six consecutive road games after opening the season at home against Mooresville on November 12. They finished the tough string of games with a 4-2 road mark and are now 4-3 overall this season and have a 1-0 mark in the Western Indiana Conference.
Erica Koehler made a successful debut in the starting lineup as she poured in a team high 14 points for the Knights. However, she was far from the scoring hero as Northview had four players in double figures.
Whitney Medworth knocked down three from long range as part of her 13 point night while Amy Thiemann also added a 3-pointer in her 13 point evening. Freshman Julie Whitted tallied 12 points in the win.
Key to the Northview victory on Monday was controlling South Vermillion scorer Kylee Wood.
Wood had just 10 points through three quarters while the game was still close. She would end up with 24 in the game including an 11-for-14 night from the free throw line. She would also add three from beyond the arc as did teammate Sarah Guinn.
But on this night, Northview got a solid four quarters of basketball as they opened with a 20 point opening period that enabled them to lead 31-16 at halftime and cruise to the WIC victory.
The Knights will return home after a week layoff and take the court against Class 4A No. 6 Bloomington North next Monday beginning at 6 p.m.
