The Northview girls' basketball team nearly repeated their earlier season result against Terre Haute North in the Hi-99 Clabber Girl Classic with a 64-31 defeat of the Patriots on Tuesday evening.
Back in November the Knights took a 60-31 decision, but on Tuesday the Knights got 19 points from Whitney Medworth and another 13 from freshman center Julie Whitted in moving to 8-4 near midseason.
The Knights got going quickly in the game, outscoring the Patriots 12-5 in the first quarter. North got their offense going in the second stanza but Northview never faltered, taking a 27-17 lead into the halftime break.
The third quarter was the killer for the Patriots as Northview came out firing while North couldn't get out of the gates. The Knights outscored North 17-2 in the third period to gain a 25-point advantage and cruised to the victory.
Nine different Northview players scored in the game, six of them had five or more points in the game.
Medworth hit two 3-pointers in the game and senior Ashley Pierce went a perfect six-for-six from the foul line. The Knights went 20-of-29 in the game.
The Knights will face Edgewood on Saturday night as part of a boy/girl doubleheader that begins at 6:30 p.m.
The Northview junior varsity team also got the win against the Patriots, 27-22.
The Knights junior varsity team will play at Edgewood Friday night as part of a boy/girl JV doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m.
