Northview downs WIC foe Edgewood

The Northview Knights moved their dual meet record to 5-6 this season with a win over Western Indiana Conference foe Edgewood on Wednesday night.

Doug Porter opened the match with a pin at 160 pounds that advanced his record to 10-5 this season. At 171, Northview's Jeremiah Allen was defeated, but Justin Wilson rebounded the Knights' cause with a pin at 184.

Tony Sambria got his second win of the season with a 9-6 decision at 215 and Tom Lucas increased his mark with a pin at heavyweight.

After Northview's Austin Nicosin took a forfeit at 103, the Knights returned the favor at 112 with a forfeit of their own. Knight freshman Whitney King also got a forfeit.

Returning to mat action, Cory Grigsby added a 14th victory this season to just one defeat when he decisioned his opponent at 125. Austin Staley continued another strong year with his 13th win, an 8-4 decision at 130 pounds before Northview forfeited the 135 class.

Derek Mroczek and Brent Withers each got wins before Travis Harmon was defeated in the evening's final match.

The Knights next match will be this weekend at the Bloomington North Invitational on Saturday with wrestling action beginning at 9 a.m. sharp.
