Venom win tourney title

The Brazil Venom AAU basketball team comprised of eighth graders from North Clay school recently won the Indiana Classic All-School basketball tournament in Bloomington.

Brodee Miller led the way with a 12.6 points per game average over five games and over eight rebounds per contest. Josiah Brock added another 10 points a game while Joey Evinger chipped in over seven points and six boards per game. Brinn Meunier led the team with 17 assists over the five games. Zach Sanabria added 11 steals and Brock had two blocks per game.

The Venom will look to continue their streak when they host the fourth Basketball Fever Tournament at the Old Brazil High School Gym beginning Saturday at 8 a.m. as the Venom host the Terre Haute Bulldogs.

Games will continue through approximately 6 p.m. as eight teams compete for the title. Games will begin again at 9 a.m. on Sunday with pool games, Consolation and Championship games. A freethrow and 3-point contest will also be held.

Admission is $3 for adults each day and $1 for students first through 12th grade with preschoolers free.
