The Clay City Eels are two-for-two against the North Central Thunderbirds this season after winning 59-47 in a Thursday night home game.
The Eels knocked off the T-Birds in the championship of the Greene County Tourney back on Jan. 11 with an excellent defensive game. They used the same method to pick up the Tri-River Conference victory on Thursday night.
Clay City held high scoring Kyle Boyll to just seven points in the game and held twin, Andy Boyll to 10 in getting the victory. Kyle Boyll has averaged 19 points a game this year, but the Eels were able to clamp down on the guard for the second time this year.
The first quarter was decisive as Clay City opened the game by outscoring North Central 16-6 after one period and led 24-16 at the halftime break.
Roger Harden led Clay City with a 17 point game and Elliott Booe added another 14 as three Eels hit double figures. Matt Farmer had 12 in the game.
The win moves the No. 6 Eels to 13-4 this season including 4-0 in the TRC this year.
The Eels will be back in action at Linton on Tuesday evening.
