Eels clinch TRC championship

The Clay City Eels were able to pull away in the second half versus the Linton Miners to capture the Tri-River Conference championship on Tuesday night.

The Eels got a game-high 19 points from Elliott Booe who helped pace the No. 5 ranked Class A squad to the 51-45 victory.

Matt Farmer added another 17 to complete a 5-0 mark for Clay City in the TRC this season.

Clay City outscored Linton 13-8 in the third quarter after being knotted at 26 apiece at the halftime break. They then held on for the six point win by outscoring the hosts 12-11 in the fourth quarter.

Booe knocked down a pair of 3-pointers to go with one by Roger Harden as the Eels moved to 14-4 this season, 5-0 TRC, 4-3 in the Southwestern Indiana Conference.

The junior varsity also won, 39-27, over the Miners.

The Eels will be back in action this Friday at home versus the West Vigo Vikings beginning at 6:30 p.m.
