Cardinals end No. 2 Eel's season early

CLAY CITY -- The Eels lost a close game to the Bloomfield Cardinals in overtime by a score of 51-46.

In the first quarter the Eels took a quick lead 7-2, but they only had a 2 point lead after the end of the first, with the score being 10-8. In the second the Eels again outscored the Cardinals 8-4 to go into halftime with a 6 point lead.

But, the third quarter went to the Cardinals as they took the lead and finished ahead by one, 26-25.

In the fourth quarter the Eels outscored the Cardinals by one, and tied it at the end of regulation to go into overtime.

However, the Cards came out shooting hot in overtime and won the game 51-46.

The teams both shot 50% from the field for the game. One big difference was the Cardinals shot 40% from beyond the 3-point line and the Eels shot 10% from 3-point range.

Elliot Booe led all scorers with 20 points. Roger Harden also chipped in 14 points off of six-of-eight shots. Dustin Haywood let Bloomfield with 16 points.

Even though his team lost Coach McVay said, "I am very proud of our effort tonight. We set our goals as a team and we met those this year. There aren't many teams that can say that."

Clay City ended the year 18-5. Though they lost in the sectional they still had a successful year.
