Northview High School graduate David Bedwell has started off his senior season at Franklin College with a bang.
Though the team has had a difficult beginning to the year after dropping a three game series with powerful Anderson University this weekend, Bedwell has not disappointed.
After hitting a robust .311 last year as a junior and topping the team with 13 stolen bases, Bedwell has continued to hit this year.
Through the first seven games of the year Bedwell had rung up a .381 average (8-of-21) while scoring nine times and pilfering five bases. He had also walked five times and driven another five runs across the plate.
He was second on the team last year with 13 doubles and already has a pair of them this season for the 4-6 Grizzlies.
In a game versus DePauw University on March 18, he had a pair of hits to go with an RBI, a walk, a stolen base and scored a run in the sixth inning that tied the score at 1-1.
Earlier in the season in a two game set with Purdue-North Central, Bedwell went a combined three-for-six with three runs scored, three RBI's, a double, walk and four stolen bases as the Grizzlies swept a pair of games.
Bedwell and the Grizzlies will host Earlham College today with a 3 p.m. start time.
