The Terre Haute South Braves gained a measure of revenge versus the Northview Knights in Wednesday's golf match at Forest Park.

After finishing third to the Knights in the Northview Invitational last weekend, the Braves rebounded to win Wednesday's dual match by two strokes, 140-142.

"It was an extremely close match," commented Northview coach Tony Trout. "They are a great team and I knew it would be a tough match."

The Knights were lead by co-medalist Jared Freeman who posted a two-under nine hole score of 33 to tie with South's Justin Shuler for honors.

"We had some really solid scores tonight," noted Trout. "Jared (Freeman) had a great score and he's providing some good senior leadership."

Also scoring for Northview was Austin Staley with a 36, Logan Whitman with a 36 and freshman Adam Thiemann who carded a 37.

"Logan (Whitman) just started this year and he got on the board. He's used to playing in pressure situations and I think that really helps him. Adam (Thiemann) also had a great round today along with Austin Staley," said Trout.

While Northview got some excellent rounds top to bottom, the Braves were just a little stronger on this day.

Brett Flowers brought in a 35 from his sixth position along with Charlie Kleusner's 36 and Jason Ireland's 36 to edge South past the host squad.

Austin Schutte had a 40 for Northview, Tyler Akers added a 38 and Eric Trusler and Caleb Edington each had 42.

In the junior varsity match, the Knights showed the extent of their upcoming depth with a comfortable 146-149 victory over South.

Devin Whittington carded a one-under par 34 to lead the Knights while sophomore Mike Carroll and freshman Kyle Kumpf added a 36. Freshman Roy Wyndham capped the Northview scoring with a 40.

The Knights will travel to The Legends Course in Franklin for a tournament with 17-other schools this Saturday beginning with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
