Knights sweep doubleheader versus South Vermillion

On Wednesday night the Northview baseball team picked up a double header sweep at South Vermillion by scores of 10-2 and 10-1.

In the opener, Michael Stuckey got the win on the mound by going seven innings, giving up just one earned run while striking out six and allowing just five hits.

David Kingery had a pair of hits, including a double, RBI and two runs scored. Jacob Jones and Andrew Griffin each had a double and a run driven in and Brady Shoemaker drove in a pair of runs with a double. C.J. Peters also had an RBI.

In the nightcap, Peters got the victory with a complete game. He allowed just one run, five hits and four walks while striking out 11 Wildcat batters.

Kingery had two hits, including a double, and two RBI's, Shoemaker added another three RBI's with a double and two hits and Griffin added another double and RBI. T.J. King had a hit and a run driven in as did Peters to help his own cause. Ryan Herbert and Jones both added a hit.

The Knights will next travel to Avon for a Saturday tournament that begins at 10 a.m. Northview is 4-2 in the WIC and 9-2 overall.

On Thursday night, the Northview junior varsity team fell to Terre Haute South at home, 9-3.

At the plate, Shawn Hughes had a triple and Brad Horn had a pair of hits, including an RBI double. Craig Trout, Ryan Nees and Shane Cooper each had a hit as well.

Brad Horn relieved Hughes with five and one-third innings of two earned run ball while striking out three batters.

The Knights are now 4-2 overall and will face the Braves once again next Thursday on the road.
