Knight baseball wins, Eels third in TRC tournament

Monday, April 28, 2003

The Northview Knights split a pair of baseball games in the Avon Tournament on Saturday, defeating Pike in their opener, 11-10, before falling in the title game, 7-0, to Southport.

David Kingery was the winning pitcher in the first game despite allowing 10 earned runs over seven innings.

However, he aided his own cause with a two-run homerun in the game.

Brady Shoemaker had three hits in the game, including a solo homerun and added three RBI's. Andrew Griffin had two hits, including a double and had an RBI. Ryan Herbert had a pair of hits as well.

T.J. King scored three runs and Jacob Jones scored one of the Knights. C.J. Peters had a hit and two RBI's and Ryan Hayes added one RBI.

In the second contest, Southport scored seven early runs off of Jason Brown before T.J. King relieved in the fourth inning and held the Cardinals in check the rest of the way. King allowed just two hits in his stint on the mound while striking out three.

Shoemaker had a triple and King added a single for Northview's lone hits.

Northview is now 10-3 overall this season and faces Sullivan on the road Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
