LINTON -- At the Tri-River Conference track and field meet on Friday evening, Clay City's Elliott Booe and North Central's Ben Rogers were starring figures on the boy's side while Linton's Breck Robinson was the brightest star in the girls' meet.

While the Linton girls team dominated with numbers and talent to take the team title easily to Clay City's second place, 224-119. The boys' race was much closer with the North Central Thunderbirds edging past the Eels for the team victory, 165-136.

However, a second place finish couldn't dampen Booe's accomplishment of winning four individual events for the Eels.

Booe registered a season best long jump of 20-5 3/4 to outdistance the competition and also took home the high jump title with an official jump at 5-10 though he continued afterwards in contention for the meet record of 6'5".

On the track, he just edged ahead of a North Central competitor at the line to take the 200 meter title in 23.21 and also got the 400 meter victory in 52.63.

Also claiming victory for Clay City was Ryan Reagin with a a throw of 127-4 1/2 in the discus and Camrand Tucker was tops in the 110 hurdles with a 16.32.

The Clay City 1,600 relay team also won. The team of Andy Huggler, Jeff Schlak, Kyle Tiefel and Tucker came home in a time of 3:44.1 for the win thanks in part to a huge late surge by Tucker who passed a North Central runner near the line for the victory.

David Schroer was second in the 3,200 for Clay City and third in the 1,600 meters.

Rogers was the story for North Central as he won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meters for the Thunderbirds.

In the girls meet, Linton was by far the deepest squad and it showed up in the final standings. However, the Eels were led by Sabrina Liechty's winning shot put throw of 30-5 1/2 and Sarah Boone's throw of 99-7 in the discus that was good for the victory.

All three relay teams took home second place for Clay City.

Clay City will have a one week break until the Southwestern Indiana Conference meet next Friday evening also at Linton beginning at 4:45 p.m.
