Local results mixed in late Monday sports action

The Northview tennis team continued their charge towards the sectionals by winning their seventh consecutive match on Monday evening.

The Knights downed South Putnam on the road, 5-0.

Northview didn't lose a set in sweeping past the Eagles in both varsity and junior varsity play.

Amy Robbins won her match 6-2, 6-3 over Nicole Stone and Brooke Yocom downed Charlee Beasor, 6-3, 6-0 while Lacy Emery won 6-2, 6-3 over Brittney Cooper.

In doubles' play, Katie Trout and Megan Love won 6-3, 6-1 over South Putnam's Brooke Bond and Holly Booe. Suzanne Deal and Heather Palmer defeated Elise Studdard and Amy Sharp 6-3, 6-0.

The Knights will face Danville at home this evening beginning at 5 p.m.

Riverton Parke 6, Northview 3

Northview lost just their fourth game of the season as Riverton Parke scored four runs over the first three innings and held on to defeat the Knights 6-3 on Monday night.

Natalie Shoemaker had a pair of singles and scored a run for the Knights (12-4 overall).

Clay City 3, Owen Valley 2

The Eels evened their record at 5-5 this season with a pair of sixth inning runs that propelled them to a 3-2 win over the visiting Patriots.

Kari Bettenbrock drove in the two runs with her third hit of the game, including the game winning RBI's on a double.


Riverton Parke 20, Clay City 6

Class A No. 2 ranked Riverton Parke scored in every inning on their way to a 20-6 victory over the visiting Eels on Monday night.

Josh Stoelting and Ryan Camp homered for the Eels.
