Northview tennis blanks Warriors

Northview's tennis team won their seventh consecutive dual match on Wednesday evening with a 5-0 sweep of Danville at home.

The Knights were led by at the No. 1 singles position by Amy Robbins who won 6-1, 6-0 over Jaci Drury. At No. 2, Robin Yocom downed Olivia Odle by a 6-4, 6-0 count and Lacy Emery shut down Rebecca Bruning, 6-1, 6-2 to complete the singles sweep.

In doubles play, Katie Trout and Megan Love won 6-2, 6-2 over Rachel Lindsey and Renee Delano. At No. 2 doubles, Heather Palmer and Suzanne Deal won 6-2, 6-0 over Stephanie Montgomery and Carissa Wiger.

The victory moves the Knights dual meet record to 7-3 and 10-3 when including Invitationals.

In junior varsity action, Northview won nine of 10 matches versus the Warriors.

In singles, Melissa Miller won 8-5, Kristy Backfish won 8-1 and Trace Hassler got by her opponent 8-3.

In doubles, the team of Brandi Butler and Rachel Deal won 8-2 while Sarah Cox and Madason Stevenson got an 8-4 victory.

Kristen Hauser and Amber Trusler won their match 8-2 as did Brittney Spugnardi and Stephanie Clark. Cassie Webb and Lisa Hammond won their match 8-1 and Trusler and Jade Gan won 8-2.

The Knights will play at Sullivan this evening in a rescheduled match and then face West Vigo at home on Friday night before visiting Brown County on Saturday to make up a rained out match.
