- Golf and JV baseball win
The Northview golf team seems to be on the right track as the season winds down.
The Knights defeated the Sullivan Golden Arrows Thursday evening 150-151.
Tyler Akers was the low scorer for Northview with a 36, just ahead of Austin Staley who had a 37. Jared Freeman scored a 38 and Caleb Edington had a 39 to complete the scoring for the Knights.
Justin Ridge was the match's low medalist with a 33.
The Knights also won their junior varsity match 170-199.
Adam Thiemann lead the JV team with a 39 and Austin Schutte scored a 41. Kurt Lammrish shot a 46 and Kyle Kumpf finished with a 49.
Northview will celebrate Senior Night on Thursday night against West Vigo.
Northview's junior varsity baseball team improved to 9-5 with a 24-5, five inning win over Danville on Thursday evening.
Eric Beasley was the winning pitcher with a complete game victory, striking out seven batters.
Brian Walden and Ryan Nees each had five RBI's and Nees had a double and a triple. Walden had a triple and scored a pair of runs. Cody Jones had three hits, including a double, three RBI's and four runs scored and Troy Sanders had three hits, scored two runs and had three RBI's. Craig Trout had two hits with a double and an RBI. Jason Johnson had three hits and Graig Bass had two hits, including two doubles. Wade Thacker had two hits, three runs scored and two RBI's and Kyle Nees had three runs scored.
The team will face Terre Haute North in a doubleheader tonight at 5 p.m.
The Northview boys track team competed at the Terre Haute North Sectional on Thursday night. Full results were not available due to a power outage however several Knights advanced to regional competition.
Senior Bryce Smith lowered a school record in the 1,600 meters with a winning time of 4:26.48. He also ran a 9:51.7 to take the 3,200 title as well.
The 1,600 relay team ran a 3:34.5 to move on to regionals and Michael Landry jumped 20-7 to place fourth in the long jump. Shawn Piatt also advanced with his third place finish in the pole vault. Piatt cleared 12-0.
Matt McClellan was second in the 200 meters to qualify for regionals.
