Northview gets pair of wins over Tiger Cubs

The Northview Knights whacked Putnam County neighbor Greencastle 14-1 in five innings on Tuesday night.

C.J. Peters got the start on the mound and went the distance for the Knights, striking out five batters while allowing just one run and four hits.

At the plate, Northview scored all 14 of their runs in the first two innings on a pair of seven run innings.

Brady Shoemaker continued to show off his power swing by connecting for a grandslam in the second inning. T.J. King also had a big night with a pair of doubles and an RBI. Andrew Griffin also had two hits and two RBI's.

Peters helped his own cause at the plate with two hits, including a double for the Knights. Seniors Ryan Hayes, David Kingery and Ryan Herbert each had hits. Hayes had three runs driven in while Herbert drove in one along with Kingery.

The victory moves the Knights to 20-6 this season with a game versus Cloverdale on Thursday evening at 7 p.m.

The junior varsity team set the tone for the varsity with their bats in Tuesday evening's 13-3 victory over the Tiger Cubs.

Northview rang up 11 hits in the game as Troy Sanders started for the Knights and got the victory.

Sanders pitched the first four innings, allowing three earned runs on three hits and striking out nine. Ryan Nees came in and closed out the game with an inning of work, striking out two.

At the plate, Cody Jones had a pair of hits and scored two runs and Jason Johnson added another two hits, scored two runs and had a double. Wade Thacker also had a double along with Craig Trout who had an RBI and scored two runs. Eric Beasley and Nees each had a hit and an RBI.

The victory gave Northview a 10-7 record to finish the season.
