Friday, May 30, 2003

The Northview girls' tennis program won perhaps their biggest match ever on Tuesday night when they won their opening regional tennis match at the Greenwood Regional.

The Knights played the host Woodmen in the first round and defeated them three matches to two.

Northview took two of three singles matches against 26th ranked Greenwood moving on to the regional championship versus sixth ranked Center Grove on Wednesday evening.

In singles play, the Knights got a win at No. 1 singles from Amy Robbins who defeated Ali Gantz of Greenwood, 6-2, 6-1. Teammate Brooke Yocom joined the victory column with a straight set victory over Sarah Harris, 6-3, 6-4.

Though Lacy Emery was defeated at No. 3 singles, 0-6, 4-6, the No. 1 doubles team of Megan Love and Katie Trout got that match back by defeating Kristin Lamberth and Jenna Young in a three set thriller, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The Knights just missed an even more convincing victory when the doubles team of Suzanne Deal and Heather Palmer lost in a three set tiebreaker, 3-6, 7-5, 6-7 (5-7), but the Knights moved on to face the Trojans from Center Grove.
