Northview's golf team readied for sectional play by competing in the Japer Invitational on Tuesday afternoon.
Playing against some top competition, the Knights placed seventh overall in the 15 team field by shooting an 18-hole team score of 325.
The host, 15th-ranked Wildcats took top honors in the tournament with their 310, followed by West Washington at 315 and Bedford North Lawrence with a 317. Southridge placed fourth with a score of 318 and Vincennes placed fifth at 319.
Senior Jared Freeman was the low scorer for Northview with his 79 while Austin Staley scored an 81. Caleb Edington was next with an 82 and Tyler Akers shot an 83. Eric Trusler had a 95.
"Sultan's Run is a very challenging course," commented coach Tony Trout. "I felt that our team was certainly competitive. We never had the opportunity to practice this course and it was a championship layout."
Low Medalist for the tournament was Michael Daum of Tell City who shot a one-under par 71 for the day. Eric huther of Jasper shot a 72 and Kyle Rodington of Evansville Central shot a 74.
"The team posted scores around 80 which is always our goal," noted Trout. "I think this was a really good practice for us."
The Knights will finish up their regular season when they travel to Hulman Links this afternoon.
