Knights drop pair to Pioneers and Tiger Cubs

Northview's volleyball team has had a rocky opening start to the season with a pair of road losses to solid squads.

The Knights lost their opening match versus Mooresville in three sets, 14-21, 20-22, 14-21.

Erica Koehler provided six assists and five service points, including a pair of aces. Heather Palmer added three blocks and Lindsey Stearley had a pair. Stearley also topped the team with five kills, ahead of Laura McCrea's four. Christy Fulk and Natalie Shoemaker each had four service points.

In junior varsity action, the Knights dropped two games by scores of 18-21 and 14-21 as Kellsy Maurer had five service points. The freshman team lost 5-21 and 13-21.

On Tuesday evening the Knights varsity squad lost in three straight to the Greencastle Tiger Cubs, 15-21, 8-21, 14-21.

Koehler had five assists and Shoemaker added four more. McCrea led the squad in kills with two and Fulk had two. Palmer had two blocks along with McCrea to lead the team. Palmer and Koehler also had three service points with an ace apiece.

The junior varsity fell in three games despite Cayla Schroeder's 17 service points.

The varsity and junior varsity squads will return home to face Terre Haute North on Thursday along with the freshman team, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
