TERRE HAUTE -- Despite a three stroke loss to Terre Haute North last week on Hulman Links, the Northview Knights bounced up in the Indiana State Golf Coachs' Association Poll.

Heading into Monday's rematch with the Links course, the Knights took the No. 14 ranking up against Western Indiana Conference foe West Vigo.

The Knights came away a convincing winner in the team score despite the fact that the course still gave Northview some fits.

Overall the squad was a 184 to 263 winner in the team race as Brittany Cheek took medalist honors with a round of 42.

Cheek's round started off with a couple of excellent birdies on the first two holes and she didn't look back on her way to top honors.

Kelsey Smith was second for the Knights with her round of 44 despite a rocky beginning to her round. Smith righted herself and finished strong for Northview. Amy Thiemann had some early trouble with hazards but still carded a solid 46 and Millie Akers scored a 52 to finish the team scoring for Northview. Jenae Huffman had a 54 for the Knights.

Leading the way for West Vigo was Courtney Biberstine with a 62.

The Knights will face a tough tri-match on Thursday as Terre Haute North and South visit for a 4:30 p.m. match at Forest Park Golf Course.
