After a promising two win weekend at the Crawfordsville Tournament, the Northview volleyball team couldn't seem to get untracked after an opening set win against White River Valley.
The Knights dropped the final three sets to the Wolverines in falling to 3-7 overall this season.
Northview lead 8-6 nearly midway through set two after a Laura McCrea ace and a tip from Heather Palmer but WRV went on a 7-2 run to take control of the set and win 21-15.
In set three, the Knights were unable to hold serve against the Wolverines who turned a 5-5 tie into a 13-6 advantage on kills by Kayla Summitt and Erica Capehart. Several Northview mistakes aided the Wolverine's cause as they pulled away for a 21-10 third game win.
In the final fourth game, the Knights were within 8-7 after back-to-back aces by Brittney Spugnardi but faltered as Capehart's pair of aces gave WRV a 14-9 advantage soon afterward. The Knights were unable to hold serve and thus could not get their offense going.
The Knights did make a final run on Erica Koehler's service combined with a Christy Fulk kill and an ace by Koehler. But the Knights couldn't quite get over the hump, falling 21-17 in the final set.
The Knights (3-7 overall, 0-1 WIC) will have the remainder of the week off before facing Cascade on the road next Tuesday.
