Golf squad gets course record in victory

Amber Trusler shot a 40 on Monday to help the Knights to a course record round of 153.

With a stretch of three matches in four days the Northview golf team was looking for a good kickoff to the streak and they certainly got it on Monday at Forest Park Golf Course.

Facing the Cascade Cadets, the Knights registered a course record 153 to Cascade's 203.

The Knights were lead by Brittney Cheek's 36 followed by Amy Thiemann who carded a 37. Millie Akers and Amber Trusler each shot a 40 to round out the scoring. Kelsey Smith had a solid round of 41 while Madison Kirchner had a 45 and Maggie Kirchner added a 47 for the varsity.

Other Northview scores included a 43 for Jenae Huffman and Erica Tucker while Madason Stevenson had a 49, Abby Smith added a 54 and Kayla Cooper had a 59.

The Knights (7-1 overall in dual matches) will travel to Sullivan to face the Golden Arrows and North Central on Wednesday beginning at 4:45 p.m.


The North Clay seventh grade volleyball team moved to 3-0 this season with a victory over North Central in three sets, 12-21, 21-14, 21-18.

Leading the way for the Knights were Hannah Emmert and Ashlyn Yocom who each had seven service points. Yocom added three aces. Whitney Sampson and Kylee Thacker had four points, Thacker had a pair of aces and Erica Lee had three service points with an ace.

The Knights will travel to Greencastle next for a 6 p.m. game.
