Northview takes dual golf match

Thursday, September 11, 2003

The Northview golf team got a successful look at this year's Sectional course in Sullivan on Wednesday where they beat Sullivan by a 173 to 219 score.

Amy Thiemann and Brittney Cheek lead the way, each with a 42 followed by Kelsey Smith who shot a 44 and Millie Akers with a 45. Jenae Huffman recorded a 53.

In junior varsity action, the Knights were lead by Maggie Kirchner who shot a 46, followed by Erica Tucker with a 50. Madason Stephenson had a 52 and Abby Smith shot a 52.

North Knox's Kara Waggner shot a 47 as the only member of her squad while North Central was topped by Ashley Keller's score of 59.

"Our putts were a little high tonight," commented head coach Teresa Akers. "We could have saved some strokes, we've been working on our short game in the hope that it would cut down on our putts, but the greens are pretty small here."

The 10th-ranked Knights (8-1 overall in dual meets) will play at Windy Hills Country Club versus Greencastle and Crawfordsville tonight.
