Northview tennis drops match; North Clay wins

Northview tennis

Sullivan 4, Northview 1

Northview won just one match with conference foe Sullivan on Thursday evening, falling four matches to one.

Tyler Akers was the lone winner at No. 1 singles for the Knights, defeating Shane Noble, 6-7 (7-0), 7-5, 6-4.

Cody Melega lost 4-6, 0-6 to Kale Ficklin of Sullivan at No. 2 singles while Shawn Hughes dropped a 4-6, 4-6 match to Andre Dupre.

In doubles, Jacob Talbot and Jeremy Miller of Northview lost in their No. 1 match, 4-6, 2-6, to Bryce Huff and Brandon Grable. Stefan Kiefer and Alex Smith lost 5-7, 1-6 to Luke Hancock and Jeb smith at No. 2 doubles.

In junior varsity play, Ben Mitchell lost 0-6, 1-6 to Brock Landes of Sullivan.

The Knights (3-4 overall) will play in the Terre Haute South Invitational on Saturday.


North Clay Volleyball (7th grade)

The North Clay seventh grade volleyball team won their fifth game of the season over West Vigo, 21-12, 21-10 on Thursday night.

Ali Rentschler and Ashlyn Yocom each had six service points and an ace in the win. Ashley Clarke had five service points and Shelby Colson added four more and Kristen Kimball added two points and an ace.

North Clay will host Woodrow Wilson and Tri-North on Saturday morning beginning at 9 a.m.
