Northview drops tennis match to Mustangs

The Northview tennis squad dropped to 4-5 overall this season with a 3-2 defeat to Edgewood on the road Tuesday night.

The Knights got a win at No. 1 singles from Tyler Akers who defeated Nick Urich 6-3, 7-5 to get Northview out front early. However, the Mustangs came back to win both No. 2 and No. 3 singles as Andy Ripley won 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 over Cody Melega at No. 2 and Caleb McLove beat Shawn Hughes 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3.

The No. 1 doubles team of Jeremy Miller and Jacob Talbot came out on top for Northview, beating Chris Stone and Scott Holt, 5-7, 7-6, 6-0. But Edgewood came back for a win in No. 2 doubles as Adam Harmwell and Scott Dawson beat Stefan Kiefer and Alex Smith, 6-4, 7-6 (9-7) for the Edgewood win.

The Knights will travel to West Vigo on Thursday for their next contest.
