The Northview Knights tennis team improved to 5-6 overall this evening with a victory over South Vermillion on the road.
Northview swept past the Wildcats with a five sets to none victory that gave them a 2-3 record in the Western Indiana Conference.
On Monday, the Knights got a straight sets, 6-1, 6-1 win from Tyler Akers at number one singles over Adam Heny of South Vermillion. That victory was followed by Cody Melega's 6-3, 6-2 win at number two singles over Ross Keskett and Shawn Hughes singles victory over Scott Short by a 6-2, 6-2 count.
In doubles action, Jacob Talbot and Jeremy Miller won a three-set match over T.J. Gilfoy and Justin Reinnings, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 that complemented the 6-1, 6-1 win by Stefan Kiefer and Ben Mitchell at number two doubles over Colby Martin and Jake Capps.
In junior varsity play, Alex Smith won 6-2, 6-2 over Nathan Shoe.
The Knights will face Owen Valley at home on Wednesday evening at 5 p.m. to finish out their conference schedule. The match will give Akers an opportunity to improve on his team-best 4-1 record in WIC matches.
