The lights were on, the stands were nearly full and Vincennes was lined up to deliver the opening kickoff for Friday night's battle between Northview and 4A's top-ranked Alices then Mother Nature intervened.

Persistent lightning and the presence of both a Severe Thunderstorm warning and a Tornado Watch combined to move the Knight's home football game to this afternoon beginning at 3 p.m.

For those who already have purchased tickets, they will be honored at today's contest as well. For those hoping to join the Northview faithful at today's special afternoon kickoff, tickets are $4 at the gate.

The matchup will include some of the state's statistical leaders as well as Purdue Boilermakers' signee, Curtis Painter of Vincennes.

Northview quarterback Logan Whitman is currently 11th in the state in passing yards per game at 206.2 per contest in addition to 66 rushing yards per game. Teammate Michael Landry has 520 receiving yards this season which makes him second in the state at 104 per game.

Painter meanwhile averages 139 passing yards per game with an average of 23 yards per completion and has rushed for 211 yards.

The Alices come in as the No. 1 ranked squad in 4A with a 5-0 overall mark while the Knights are 3-2 with their only losses to 9th ranked Bloomington North and previously ranked 5A Terre Haute North.

Kickoff will be at Northview High School beginning at 3 p.m.
