Knights drop matches in soccer and volleyball

Wednesday, October 1, 2003

The Northview girls soccer team fell 3-0 in a physical game versus Terre Haute South on Tuesday night.

The Braves got on the board early with a fluke goal from 35 yards out that found net behind goal keeper Bethany Fagg. The shot dropped just inside the box and hopped high, finding its way just under the crossbar to give the Braves the lead at the 12:04 mark.

Fagg would recover to make a handful of tough saves in the first half to keep the game close at 1-0.

In the second half, the Knights got a couple of scoring opportunities but were unable to find the net.

South would add to their lead at the 29:33 mark when a Braves forward received a pass and changed direction in front of the goal, firing back across the box to make the score 2-0.

The Braves would tack on one final goal.

Fagg had 19 saves in goal and Vanessa Modesitt recorded nine in relief of Fagg.

Kelsie Butts had three field saves along with Sage Graverson. Kelsey Scroggins had six steals to lead the team with Rachel Deal adding three, Marsha Krisenko adding three and Graverson recording three as well.
