For those Northview seniors who thought that Friday's game versus West Vigo was their last in front of a home crowd. Tuesday night's sectional drawing provided them one more opportunity to 'wow' their home town when they face No. 9 ranked Mooresville on Friday, October 24.
The Knights will likely get the opportunity to face their third ranked opponent in a month on their home turf when they kickoff versus the Pioneers.
Other matchups in the Class 4A Sectional 14 will see Bloomington North hosting Owen Valley and Greenwood hosting Whiteland. Franklin receives the bye and will play the winner of the Greenwood/Whiteland contest.
While the sectional contains three ranked teams currently, Northview head coach George Gettle likes his team's chances opening at home. "I know they are a good program and their coach (Mike Bless) used to be my high school coach. But I think they got the tough draw having to come here to play us."
That comment would certainly seem to hold true when you consider that the Knights hammered then-No. ranked Vincennes Lincoln 20-0 two weeks ago in the friendly confines of the Knight's home stadium in front of a wild, noisy home crowd.
With a victory, the Knights would face the winner of the Owen Valley versus Bloomington North contest.
The Cougars defeated the Knights in week one of this season a fact that should be even more emphasis for the Knights in winning their first sectional contest. "I've told the kids all along that I wanted another shot at Bloomington North," said Gettle. "Obviously it's a tough road, we're talking about having to probably beat three ranked teams to win the sectional, but we're focusing on West Vigo right now."
The Knights will host the unbeaten Vikings this Friday night beginning at 7:30 p.m.
