Northview volleyball squads fall to Panthers

After winning one of three games at the Linton Invitational on Saturday evening, the Northview volleyball teams traveled to Riverton Parke for a match versus the Panthers on Tuesday night.

The Knights had little success against them as the freshman, junior varsity and varsity all lost their contests.

The varsity fell 14-21, 14-21, 9-21 and were led by Heather Palmer's five points and three kills while Natalie Shoemaker added five assists and two points.

Erica Koehler joined Shoemaker as the team leader in assists with five and chipped in four blocks, four digs and a kill for the Knights. Christy Fulk had three blocks along with three kills. Brittney Spugnardi added four digs and Laura McCrea had two points and a pair of kills.

The junior varsity squad dropped a 10-21, 19-21 match to the Panthers as Kelsey Maurer led the team in points with six, three of which were aces. Jessica Raderstorf had three assists while Brianne Arvin had three kills and Kayla Shrader added three kills.

In the freshman match, the Knights won the opening set 21-9 before dropping the last two 17-21, 18-21.

Chelsea Mershon had 12 points with seven aces and Johann Moore added 11 points and four aces. Nikki Mogan had four assists while Hannah Hunter added three kills.

The varsity will celebrate Senior Night on Thursday evening versus Plainfield.

Northview drew the Terre Haute South Braves in the second game of the Martinsville Sectional a week from Thursday night.
