Knights fall in five set marathon to Warriors

Megan Love had a pair of kills and five blocks in the Knight's five set loss to Danville on Monday.

The Northview volleyball team concluded the regular season with five-set defeat to the Danville Warriors on Monday evening.

The Warriors took the opening game 21-15 to put Northview in an early hole but the Knights fought their way back to a lead in the match by winning the next two sets, 21-18, 21-19.

But in the end the Warriors were too much for the Knights, taking the final two sets, 21-17, 15-13 to capture the victory.

For Northview, Erica Koehler led the squad in digs with three. Casey Challandes added two along with Natalie Shoemaker.

Megan Love topped the team with five blocks in the contest followed by Koehler's four and Lindsey Stearley's three. Laura McCrea added one block in the game.

Koehler had 10 assists for Northview and Shoemaker added five to contribute to Challandes' team-leading seven kills. Stearley added six kills on the night followed by five from Koehler, four by Kelsey Maurer and two each from Love and Shoemaker.

Shoemaker was the team leader in service points with 14, including a pair of aces and McCrea contributed seven, Koehler had six, Heather Palmer added four and Challades had four. Jade Girton added three.

Up next for Northview is sectional competition beginning on Thursday evening where they will square off with Terre Haute South in game two of the Martinsville Sectional.


Junior Varsity

The JV team also fell to the Warriors on Monday night with a 14-21, 16-21 defeat.

Brianne Arvin led the team with three kills along with Natasha Barnett. Sarah Cox had four points and two aces and Maurer had three points along with an ace.
