Northview's girls basketball team will face Mooresville on the road Tuesday night in their season opener.

If Saturday's basketball jamboree at Terre Haute South High School is any indication, Northview may have just made themselves an early favorite for the upcoming HI-99 Clabber Girl Classic tournament next weekend.

The Knights, led by four experienced seniors, were the most potent team on the floor during the bi-county girls basketball jamboree on Saturday.

The combined efforts of the Terre Haute South Braves and Knights, outscored the West Vigo Vikings and Terre Haute North Patriots, 58-26.

Northview seemed the most polished of the four teams, scoring 45 of the 58 points in their two quarters of action.

The Knights experienced seniors, Whitney Medworth, Erica Koehler, Amy Thiemann and Sara Frazier combined for 50 percent shooting from the field (12-24 FG) and went 11-of-13 from the free throw line in scoring 37 points.

The Braves, who were without senior Lauren Ditteon who was making a college visit, were led by senior Alison Terrell who tallied seven points for South along with six rebounds. The Knights got a big effort from Medworth who was the scrimmage's leading scorer with 17 points on five-of-11 shooting. She also added four assists. Koehler complimented Medworth's effort with 14 points and six rebounds. In all, seven Northview players found their way into the scoring column.

The youthful Patriots who have seven sophomores on their ten player roster scored just seven points in their two quarters while committing 16 fouls and shooting just one-of-13 from the field.

West Vigo's Vikings fared only slightly better, scoring 19 points against the Knights and Braves.

Northview's uptempo style appeared to work according to plan versus the Vikings. West Vigo had outscored the Knights midway through their third period before eventually being outscored 19-0 to end the period.

The Knights will get a stern test in their regular season opener on Tuesday, traveling to Mooresville for their first game. They will then enter the HI-99 Clabber Girl Classic with a bye to Saturday's second round.
