Rox sink Eels from 3-point land
The Clay City Eels dropped to .500 on the season with a 57-34 defeat to host Rockville on Monday night.
The Eels were overwhelmed by guard Morgan Wheeler's long-range heroics in the game.
Wheeler nailed six 3-pointers in the game on the way to a game-high 26 points for the Rox. The squad as a whole hit nine from beyond the arc in the victory.
Clay City was topped by sophomore Whitney McWilliams led the way for the Eels with 12 points and added a 3-pointer of her own, but it was not enough.
Rockville closed the door on the Eels with a combined 37 points in the second and third quarters compared to just 17 for Clay City.
Cameron Gerber chipped in nine points for Clay City while Bryleigh Schopmeyer added three points.
The Eels (2-2 overall) will visit White River Valley on December 1, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
