Sophomore Nick Wells (#51) goes up for two of his 10 points in Northview's convincing 40-point victory over Brown County.

Facing their first back-to-back test of the season, the Northview Knights passed with flying colors versus the Brown County Eagles on Saturday night winning 77-37.

Northview came out firing from long range in their home opener as Logan Whitman drilled three first quarter 3-pointers and the Knights raced out to a 24-14 lead in the opening period.

The Knights wouldn't let up throughout the contest, hitting 60 percent from the field (30-of-50) for the game.

Brown County, playing behind for much of the game, attempted 12 shots from beyond the arc, hitting just two. However, the Knights hit 11 of their 19 shots from outside as Whitman hit five on the way to a game-high 23 points. Josh Timm ripped the Eagles' defense with an 18-point night including four of his own 3-pointers.

In all, four Northview players hit double-figures including sophomore Nick Wells who got his first varsity action of the season. Wells hit all four of his shots from the field on the way to 10 points, four rebounds and a pair of blocks in a quarter of work.

Northview nearly doubled the Eagles' rebounding effort with a 37-21 advantage. The Knights strengthened their lead to 45-21 at the halftime break as Matt Brand chipped in five second quarter points to go with Whitman's nine and Zach Keyes' four. Keyes would finish with 12 points in the game and the Knights were able to rest their starters for nearly the entire fourth quarter as their reserves continued to build the Northview lead.

The Knights (3-0 overall, 1-0 WIC) will have the rest of the week to prepare for their next conference foe, West Vigo on the road on Friday evening.
