Clay City girls pick up win over Vincennes Rivet

The Clay City girls basketball team evened their record at 4-4 this season with a comfortable 48-34 victory over Vincennes Rivet on Monday night.

The Eels ran out to a 33-7 halftime lead as eight players got into the scoring column.

Whitney McWilliams helped lead the Eels to a 22 point first quarter with seven points, including a 3-pointer, in the period. Cameron Gerber added four points of her own in the quarter and the Eels were never threatened.

Clay City (4-4 overall) got their reserves into the game in the second half where the Patriots narrowed the final margin.

McWilliams led the Eels with 11 points in the game while Bryleigh Schopmeyer added nine, Kasi Thatcher added seven and both Sarah Kennedy and Gerber chipped in with six points apiece.


In the junior varsity contest the Eels romped out to a 15-3 first half advantage before coasting to a 24-7 victory over the Patriots.

Chelsee Gerber led the team with 11 points, including a 3-pointer and Kristin Tyler added six points. Chelsea Riggs added five points for the Eels.
