Staff Reports

The Northview girls basketball team opened up the new year on the wrong foot Saturday evening with a 33-30 loss to the host Danville Warriors.

The Knights held Danville to just two first quarter points on the way to a nine-point lead through the first eight minutes. However, the Warriors turned the tables in the second period by holding the Knights to just four points in closing to within 15-12 at the half.

In the second half, the Warriors rang up 18 third quarter points which helped offset a three point fourth quarter in getting the victory.

The loss was the fourth loss in the past six games for the Knights who were led in scoring by sophomore Julie Whitted with 10 points. Whitney Medworth and Amy Thiemann each added six points for the Knights who fell to 6-5 overall and are 1-2 in the Western Indiana Conference.

The Knights will host Greencastle on Tuesday night with the junior varsity contest beginning at 6:30 p.m.
