Wolverines hold off late Eel's charge

Despite a game-high 21 points from Jared Defore, the Clay City Eels dropped their second game of the year to conference foe White River Valley, 54-49.

The second-ranked Class A squad Wolverines got 18 points from senior A.J. Graves and held off a late Clay City rally for the victory that moved them to 13-2 this season.

Defore knocked down a trio of 3-pointers in the game to lead the Eels. Camrand Tucker added nine points and both Brock Roberts and Clay Jones each had six points in the loss.

Clay City (9-6 overall) will host Shakamak next Friday night.
