The Terre Haute Quarter Midget Association is hosting a Promotional Drive Day on Saturday, April 24 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. for children ages 4 1/2 to 15 years old interested in driving a real quarter midget race car. The THQMA will supply the cars along with safety equipment and for $10 children can take 10 laps.
Drivers are asked to wear long pants and jacket, with no open toe shoes.
There will be a Novice Trainer there to provide instruction and each child will receive a photo of themselves.
Many current and past club members and officers will be on hand to assist and answer any questions. THQMA has been a part of the local area since 1948, it is the oldest continually operating dirt quarter midget track within the National organization. Terre Haute has been the host to 4 Dirt Grand National events, with the last held in August of 2003, with approximately 500 drivers and families participating in the week long event. The Terre Haute Hulman Mini Speedway is located at the corner of 13th & Lockport in Terre Haute. Admission is always free.
