Eels drop third straight baseball contest, Knights earn softball victory

-Northview 'C' baseball team wins

Clay City dropped to 0-3 this season with a 6-0 conference loss to host North Central on Tuesday night.

The Eels managed just three hits versus Thunderbird pitcher Rodney Frederick who also had a pair of hits in the victory. Matt Austin also had two hits for the Thunderbirds who piled up 13 hits versus Clay City starter Brock Dyer and reliever Dustin Griffith.

The Eels will visit White River Valley on Thursday night for a varsity/junior varsity doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Northview Softball

Northview 11, Bloom. South 8

Northview's softball team used a pair of big innings to pick up a road victory over Bloomington South on Monday night, 11-8.

The Knights scored four runs in the second frame and seven in the third inning, holding off a late rally by the Cougars.

Cayla Shrader relieved Stephanie Jonson on the mound, throwing three innings while allowing just one run.

Kayla Glassburn had a pair of hits and drove in four runs while scoring a pair of runs. Kayla Harlan had a pair of doubles and Casey Challandes had two hits and scored two runs in the victory.

"I think the team played well tonight against a strong Bloomington South squad," commented Northview coach Jason Wise. "On offense we hit the ball well and we were able to put a lot of pressure on their defense. On defense we made a few mistakes but overall I was pleased with the effort. Cayla Shrader did a great job coming in in relief for Stephanie Jonson."

The Knights next contest will be Thursday when they host Shakamak at 5 p.m.

Northview 'C' Team Baseball

Northview 2, West Vigo 1

Northview's 'C' team got a strong mound effort from Jordan Myers who limited West Vigo to a single hit in a 2-1 victory Monday night.

Myers allowed one run along with one hit and struck out 12 batters in the victory.

Matt Deakins drove in a pair of runs for the Knights with a sacrifice fly and an RBI single. Chase Yocom, Jordan Starr and Myers also had hits for the Knights who will play a doubleheader at Terre Haute South Friday night beginning at 5 p.m.
