The North Clay girls track team opened their season with a three-way victory over Otter Creek and West Vigo Monday night.
The Knights scored 62 points to 51 for Otter Creek and 14 to West Vigo.
The boys team took second behind Otter Creek with the Vikings taking third place.
The girls enjoyed a wealth of strong performances as eighth grader Kyler Clark was involved in three victories including the hurdles and joined the winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams.
She was joined in the 400 relay by Renee Leslie who placed third in the 200 meters.
Rachel Packard placed fourth in the hurdles and Nebula Schultz won the high jump by clearing 4'4. Her teammate, Shandi Travis placed third in the event, clearing the same height, but had more misses. Jonna Harlan added a second place finish in the shotput.
The seventh and sixth graders also did their part in the victory as Cayla Yockey won the 200 meters and was part of the winning 400 relay team.
Stormi Raines made her track debut a strong one, taking part on the winning 400 and 1,600 relay teams and placing second in the 400 meters.
Seventh graders, Tiffany Young, Cassandra Barnett and Shayli Parr were second, third and fourth respectively in the 3,200 meter event while Brooklyn Myers, Ashley Clarke and Brittany Campbell were two, three and four in the longjump.
Allie True placed third in the 1,600 just ahead of Corey Laue. Young came back to score second place points in the 800 meters.
Sixth grade competitor Shelby Sands won the 400 meter event with an impressive time of 1:08 and was second in the 100 meters. She also was part of the winning 1,600 meters along with Carlee Bell.
For the boys team, Jered Timm was the lone individual event winner in the 400 meters and joined Jordan Maurer, Jarod Staley and Griffin Maurer for a first place finish in the 1,600 relay.
Jordan and Griffin Mauer and Staley teamed with Drake Stevenson for a 400 relay win.
The Knights got third place finishes from Jordan Keller in the shotput, Eli Kirby in the 3,200, Thad Whittington in the hurdles, Staley in the 100 meters and Jarod Royer in the 1,600.
Also placing third were Alec Manke in the 400, Griffen Maurer in the 800 and the 1,600 relay team of Manke, Royer, Trent Sims and Nathan Mafioli.
Ross Crooks placed fourth in the shotput as did Ryan Lutes in the 800, Timm in the high jump, Stevenson in the 200 and the 400 relay team of Whittington, Jonathon Bradshaw, Justin White and Patrick Duncan.
The Knights will be back in action on Wednesday night versus Honey Creek.
