The Northview golf team shot perhaps its best round of the season in defeating rival Terre Haute North at Forest Park Thursday evening.
The Knights carded a team score of 3-under 137 to defeat the Patriots by three strokes.
"I'm extremely pleased with how we played tonight," commented Coach Scott Buell of his Knights. "This is a huge win for us. Terre Haute North is probably the top dual match that we have all year."
Northview's Tyler Akers earned medalist honors with his two-under score of 33, while Devin Whittington shot a 34 for second place.
"I thought Tyler (Akers) stepped up really big for us tonight with birdies on the last two holes and Devin (Whittington) was huge for us tonight," said Buell. "He's struggled a little bit lately and his round tonight was really big."
The Knights also got even par rounds from Caleb Edington, Austin Staley and Adam Thiemann while Kyle Kumpf carded a 36 and both Roy Wyndham and Austin Schutte shot 39.
All four members of Terre Haute North shot even par for the Patriots, John Trierweiler, Matt Sherertz, Zach Vanhuss and Justin Miller each shot 35.
In the junior varsity match, the Patriots defeated Northview 157 to 172 despite Patrick Czezik carding a 39.
Adam Justice shot a 43 and Josh Conway carded a 43 with Jeremy Johnson and Clint Grey registering a 46 and Brian Metz shot a 48.
The victory gives the Knights a 6-1 dual match mark with a home match with Linton and Terre Haute South on Monday.
